BETHANY, W.V. (Apr. 18)- The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team defeated Bethany 16-8 on the road in a PAC matchup.

Saint Vincent (7-5, 2-3 PAC) outscored Bethany (5-8, 1-4 PAC) 6-1 in the second half to pull away from the Bison to secure the conference win.

Kaylee Bandow and
Maggie Edwards led the way for SVC, each scoring a game-high five goals in the win for Saint Vincent. Edwards also picked up six ground balls and Bandow scooped up two ground balls as well. Edwards also notched the 100th point of her career in the win as well.

Bridget Doyle also had a big game, scoring four goals on five shots on goal.
Hannah-Marie Starner and
Carolina Walters each added a goal and two ground balls for the Bearcats.

Bailey Nicely secured the win in net for Saint Vincent, playing all 60-minutes, making 11 saves in route to the win.

Saint Vincent scored the first goal of the game as Edwards scored just over one minute into the contest giving SVC a 1-0 lead. The Bison countered with three straight goals over the span of two-minutes as the Bearcats found themselves trailing 3-1.

SVC scored three of the next five goals to close out the first quarter. Bandow scored first and Doyle answered with two straight goals, less than one minute apart from each other as Saint Vincent trailed 5-4 heading into the second quarter.

It was all Saint Vincent in the second quarter. The Bearcats scored the first three goals of the quarter as Starner, Edwards, and Doyle all scored to give SVC a 7-5 lead early in the second quarter. Bethany scored two quick ones to tie it back up at 7-7 but the Bearcats had another offensive push to close out the half.

Bandow scored first and Walters followed that up with a goal on the man up before Bandow found the back of the net again to give Saint Vincent a 12-7 lead heading into the half.

In the third quarter, the Bearcats defense held strong, shutting out the Bison in the quarter, while also scoring two goals as well. Edwards and Bandow scored again in the third quarter to give SVC a 14-7 lead heading into the final quarter.

Once again, the fourth quarter belonged to Saint Vincent. The Bearcats outscored the Bison 4-1 in the quarter. Edwards scored two more in the quarter and Bandow and Doyle added another goal as well to close out the win for Saint Vincent.

SVC outshot Bethany 32-24 over the course of the game. Saint Vincent also forced 25 Bison turnovers and held them to 14-17 on clears. The Bearcats scooped up 31 ground balls and were 19-23 on clear attempts in the win as well.

The Bearcats return to action on Friday, April 21 when they play host to Thiel in a PAC matchup at UPMC Field. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
