Billet scores 100th career goal as men's lacrosse cruises past Franciscan

LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 26)- The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team used a huge offensive effort to defeat Franciscan 26-7 in the Bearcats final regular season home contest of the year.
 
Saint Vincent (13-2, 5-1) had 14 different players record at least one point, including ten different goal scorers in the win over Franciscan (6-6, 1-5 PAC).
 
Jordan Billet led the way for the Bearcats with a career high 12 points, scoring eight goals, including his 100th goal of his career and dishing four assists. Caleb Hawkins finished with seven points, including two goals and five assists for SVC.
 
Jacob Visalli recorded six points, scoring five goals while also dishing out one helper. Jonathan Nagy (3 goals, 1 assist), Max Schuler (4 assists), and Liam McCall (2 goals, 2 assists) all tallied four points for Saint Vincent.
 
Matthew Cassidy recorded three points with one goal and two assists, while Max Radcliffe scored the first two goals of his young career as a Bearcat. Justin Wodarek recorded two assists and Andrew Coholich (1 assist), Brody McMahon (1 goal), Benjamin Wohlin (1 goal), Jacob Crumling (1 goal), and Carter Haid (1 assist) all recorded one assist in the strong day on offense for SVC.
 
Brady Beard recorded a game-high seven groundballs and was an impressive 16-19 on faceoffs for Saint Vincent. Colin Cooper was also strong on faceoffs going 14-17 for the Bearcats. McMahon had a game-high five caused turnovers as well.
 
Noah Sperling picked up the win in net, making five saves, allowing just seven goals, playing all 60-minutes in the contest.
 
The Bearcats outshot the Barons by a large margin of 56-17. Saint Vincent was also a perfect 19-19 on clear attempts and won 30 faceoffs compared to just six by Franciscan.
 
Defensively, SVC forced 24 Franciscan turnovers, with 15 of those coming in the first half. The Bearcats also limited the Barons to 23-30 on clear attempts. Saint Vincent picked up 40 groundballs, including 24 of those coming in the second half, compared to just 17 groundball pickups by Franciscan.
 
The Bearcats shut out Franciscan 8-0 in the first quarter and followed that up with four more goals in the second to take a commanding 12-2 lead into the halftime break.
 
Saint Vincent continued to keep their foot on the gas, netting eight more goals in the third quarter and six more in the fourth quarter, limiting the Barons to just five goals in the second half to secure the 26-7 win in the regular season home finale for the Bearcats.
 
The Bearcats will conclude their regular season with a trip to Chatham on Friday, April 28. The match in Pittsburgh is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
