The Saint Vincent men's bowling team bounced back from a slow start to finish 9th out of 17 teams in the fourth Ohio Bowling Conference tournament of the season, held in Columbus.
The Bearcats, entering the day with a season team average of 191, averaged only 171.3 over the first two traditional games, with no individuals posting a 200 score. The team came alive in game three, led by
Brandon Dunmire (239) and
James Gatto (216), helping the team to a 949 team score (189.8 average). In the fourth traditional game, the Bearcats shot a 947, with Dunmire again posting the top score, 223.
Baker play saw the Bearcats post the fifth highest team total over 16 games, averaging 193.3.
Individually, Dunmire finished 21st in the field of 100 with an average of 201, while Gatto was 35th.
Overall for the day, including Baker games, Dunmire led the team with an average of 205.2, while Gatto also topped the 200 mark at 203.7.
Alex Vickers was third at 178.4. Dunmire threw strikes on 50% of his throws for the day, 46 for 92.
Saint Vincent will head to Newport, Kentucky next weekend, for the Saints Classic, hosted by Thomas More University.
