The Saint Vincent men's bowling team traveled to Kentucky for the Saints Classic, hosted by Thomas More University. After two days of competition, SVC finished fifth among 11 teams.
Emmanuel College won the event with a team average of 201. Saint Vincent averaged 186, and missed the stepladder finals by just 56 total pins.
DAY ONE
The Bearcats opened the weekend with four traditional games, finishing game one with a team score of 927.
Brandon Dunmire (212) and
Garrett Contee (211) had the top scores. Three Bearcats topped the 200 mark in game two, led by senior
Alex Vickers' 222. Dunmire (213) and
James Gatto (200) were the others.
In game three, Dunmire again led the way with a 223, while freshman Ryan Shuck entered the match and shot a 210. Vickers added a 204. The final traditional game of the day saw
Michael Fekete shoot the top score, 211, followed by Vickers with a 201.
Day one ended with a single four-game Baker team block, with SVC breaking the 200 mark in two of four games.
DAY TWO
The second day featured 16 Baker games set up in four groups of four games each, and the Bearcats managed to top the 200 mark in just 3 of 16 games.
Individually,
Brandon Dunmire finished eighth in the field of 90 bowlers with a four-game total of 838 (209.5 average).
Alex Vickers was 21st at 191.5. Ryan Shuck bowled in two games and averaged 196.
Dominick Spence led all bowlers in the JV division with a 187.2 average, while
Steve Perekiszka was third at 182.
In Baker play, Schuck had the best day of his collegiate career, averaging 212.9 to lead the team, followed by Fekete (197.2) and Vickers (185.6).
SVC returns to action on Saturday, February 4, traveling to Coshocton, Ohio for the Muskie Mash, hosted by Muskingum University.
