ALTOONA, Pa. (Feb. 25)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team kept their perfect record alive after defeating Penn State-Altoona 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats (5-0) kept their perfect record alive after defeating the Lions (0-3) in two of the three doubles matches, before picking up four wins in singles play.

After falling in number one doubles, 5-8 to give Altoona a 1-0 lead, the Bearcats bounce back with wins in both number and number three doubles. In number two doubles,
Braden Yokopenic and
Brady Johnson won 8-5 to tie the match at 1-1.

August Lawrence and
Kyle Murray followed that up with an 8-7(6) win in a lengthy third doubles win in the tiebreaker to give Saint Vincent a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

SVC fell in first singles play as Yakopenic was defeated 5-7, 0-2, before retiring from the match as the Lions tied the match up at 2-2.

Brian Lee gave Saint Vincent the lead right back winning 6-4, 6-3 in number three singles play, but Altoona tied it once again with a win in number two singles as
Matthew Sadusky fell in a tight 0-6, 6-4, 6-10 match as the match remained tied at 3-3.

Saint Vincent controlled the rest of the match as the Bearcats won in number four, five, and six singles play with
Jack Citrone clinching the win for the Bearcats in number five singles.

Johnson picked up his second win of the afternoon with a 7-6(4), 6-0 win for the Bearcats in number four singles. Citrone followed that up with the clinching 6-3, 6-1 in number five singles and then Lawrence secured the Bearcats final win of the afternoon with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 win in number six singles.

Saint Vincent will now enjoy their perfect record for the next week, before returning to action on Sunday, March 3 in Hilton Head, S.C. for their annual spring break trip. The Bearcats will compete in three matches in Hilton Head between March 6-7.
