WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 11)- The Saint Vincent women's soccer team fell by a score of 2-1 to Waynesburg in a Presidents Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
With the game tied 1-1, Waynesburg (10-1-2, 4-0-2 PAC) scored with less than a minute left in the game to hand the Bearcats (10-2-1, 4-2-1 PAC) their first PAC loss of the season.
Jordan Kirkwood scored Saint Vincent's lone goal of the game, while she also totaled three shots.
Rilyn Warner took the loss in net, but kept the Bearcats in the game, making an impressive 13 saves, including a couple of critical saves late in the game.
Other than Kirkwood,
Emma Koller totaled the only other two shots on goal for Saint Vincent.
Saint Vincent got outshot in the loss by a 23-9 margin, including 15-4 in shots on goal. Both teams recorded six corner kicks each.
The Bearcats played from behind almost right away as Waynesburg scored just under three minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. That 1-0 lead would hold going into the half.
In the second half, Saint Vincent scored just three minutes into the half, tying the game at 1-1. That 1-1 score would hold the whole way into the 89th minute when Waynesburg scored off of a corner kick to hand Saint Vincent the loss.
SVC will return to action on Wednesday, October 15 when they travel to W&J for a road PAC matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Washington.
