LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 24)- The Saint Vincent men's swimming team breezed past Chatham by a score of 195-45 in their Presidents Athletic Conference opener on Friday night in Latrobe.
Freshman
Landon Kirkpatrick had a big night for the Bearcats. The freshman recorded two victories, an individual second place finish, and swam a leg on the Bearcats second place 200-yard medley relay team.Â
Kirkpatrick's two wins came in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.34) and the 200-yard IM (2:13.52). His second place result came in the 200-yard breaststroke where he swam a time of 2:23.61 for the Bearcats.
Jacob Dzurica was also big in the win for SVC. Dzurica picked up two individual victories, while also picking up a first place result on SVC's winning 200-yard medley relay team. The senior picked up his victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.58) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.96) in the victory for Saint Vincent.
Jacob Bacasa added a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 10:58.55, while finishing second in the 200-yard IM (2:18.84) and third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.29).
Owen Echegaray recorded two second place results, coming in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard freestyle, while
Giovanni Guido sam a leg on the Bearcats winning 200-yard medley relay team and picked up a second place result in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Maxwell Huck recorded two wins for SVC as well, coming in the 50-yard freestyle (23.27) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.48.).
Hayden Klein swam a leg on the first place 200-yard medley relay team, while picking up a win in the 100-yard butterfly (58.25) and a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:14.11.
William Schauss also swam a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team, while picking up wins in the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.50) and the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:23.26.
Alex Leskovansky earned second place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (58.92) and the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.34 seconds.
Gabe Yant added two second place results in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.59) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:48.45).
Anton Seifert added three third place results as did
Soma Burt and
Joseph Borneman finished fourth in two separate events.
Saint Vincent returns to action next Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1 competing in the two-day York College Invitational. The invitational is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 12 noon on Saturday.
