HIRAM, Ohio (Oct. 4)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team earned an important 2-1 victory at Hiram on Saturday evening.
After playing to a 1-1 tie at the half, Saint Vincent's (8-2-2, 2-1-1 PAC)
Daniel Maddock scored what turned out to be the game winning goal in the 68th minute to secure the 2-1 victory for SVC.
Antonio Mendes scored SVC's other goal, which came in the first half.
Kameron Rock picked up the win in net, making three saves for SVC.Â
After a scoreless opening 30-plus minutes of play for the Bearcats, Mendes found the back of the net in the 35th minute to put SVC up 1-0. Hiram tied the match at 1-1 two minutes later.
In the second half, it was a similar start, until Maddock scored in the 68th minute. That 2-1 lead would hold over the final 20 minutes for Saint Vincent to give the Bearcats the win.
Shots were even at 10 a piece, but SVC totaled six shots on goal, while Hiram recorded just four. Corner kicks were 2-1 in favor of Hiram.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, October 8 with a home matchup against Geneva. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at UPMC Field.
