Saint Vincent College names Zach Shaw Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach

Latrobe, Pa. (Feb. 10) The Saint Vincent College football program and Athletic Director D.P. Harris are proud to announce the hiring of Zach Shaw as its new Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach. Shaw brings a wealth of coaching experience at both the collegiate and professional levels, having led successful offensive programs across the United States and internationally.

"We are extremely excited to bring Zach Shaw on as our new offensive coordinator," Head Saint Vincent Football Coach Casey Goff said of the hiring. "Zach brings an energy, a passion for the game, and a ton of experience, which includes head coaching experience. We hit it out of the ball park with (Zach)."

Shaw most recently served as an assistant coach at Manchester University, where he was part of the Black & Gold staff for the 2024 season. Before his time at Manchester, Shaw was the Head Coach at Fitchburg State, leading the program to its best offensive performance since 2018 while also playing a key role in expanding the athletic program.

Shaw was very successful both in coaching as well as in the recruiting process at Manchester as he helped implement a recruiting plan that saw over 175 recruits visit campus prior to the conclusion of the 2024 season. He also helped set many records, while serving as the Head Coach at Fitchburg State. Under his direction, Fitchburg recorded the most points scored and yards gained since 2018, while also seeing an offense throw for the most touchdown passes since 2017. His defense at Fitchburg was ranked ninth in the country in passing defense, allowing just 137 yards per game.

Prior to Fitchburg, Shaw was the Offensive Coordinator at Elmhurst College, where he significantly improved the team's scoring offense, total offense, and passing efficiency. From 2020-2022, he held dual roles as Offensive Coordinator and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator at Hiram College, helping the team improve in all major offensive statistical categories.

Shaw's coaching career also includes stints at Nichols College, where he was the Director of Football Operations and Offensive Coordinator, as well as Wisconsin Lutheran College, Mesabi Range College, and multiple European programs, including the Winterthur Warriors (Switzerland), Potsdam Royals (Germany), and Elancourt Templiers (France). His international playing career included a championship-winning season as the starting quarterback for the Potsdam Royals, where he compiled an 18-4 record, over 4,000 passing yards, and 41 touchdowns.

At Nichols College, he oversaw the top scoring offense in program history as well as recording the top single season completion percentage and most passing touchdowns in program history. He coached two CCC All-Conference award winners, as well as four Wrocester Area All Stars while at Nichols as well.
A Wisconsin Lutheran College graduate, Shaw was a four-year starting quarterback, finishing as the program's all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and wins. He later earned his Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Nichols College.

Shaw and his partner, Jess, currently reside in Latrobe, PA.

"It's huge to bring in a play caller who has called plays," Goff said. "When things get crazy in the heat of the game, you have to have composure and Zach has done it. He was playing quarterback and was the offensive coordinator when he was in Europe. That experience is huge for us where we are and what we are trying to do as a program."
