GROVE CITY, Pa. (Apr. 26)- The Saint Vincent softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Grove City to conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats (21-17, 9-11 PAC) fell in game one 8-1, before falling to the Wolverines (24-11, 15-5 PAC) 11-10 in game two of the doubleheader.
Game 1- Grove City 8, Saint Vincent 1
It was all Wolverines in the opener of the doubleheader. Grove City jumped out to a 6-0 lead, before an SVC run in the fourth ended the shutout. However, the Wolverines added two insurance runs in the sixth to close out the win.
Shayna Perigo led Saint Vincent with two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Alyssa Henderson,
Dakota Hershberger,
Olivia Goodwin, and
Mackenzie Favero all recorded one hit each in the loss for SVC as well.
Meghan Braun took the loss in the circle for Saint Vincent, while
A.J. Arnal and
Madi Zigarovich both pitched in relief for the Bearcats as well.
The Wolverines scored once in the first and five more in the third to take a 6-0 lead. Saint Vincent scored in the fourth on an RBI-single from Perigo to cut the lead to 6-1. However, Grove City scored two more runs in the sixth and held the Bearcats in check to hand the Bearcats the loss in the opener of the doubleheader.
Game 2- Grove City 11, Saint Vincent 10
Saint Vincent trailed 3-1 after two innings, before back-to-back four-run innings put Saint Vincent ahead 9-3. However, the Wolverines came from behind, outscoring SVC 8-1 the rest of the way to hand Saint Vincent the loss in game two of the doubleheader.
Josey Michalski,
Alyssa Henderson, and
Haley Hamilton all recorded two hits each, while Michalski knocked in two runs, while Henderson and Hamilton both knocked in one each.
Eva Farone and
Abby Bauer recorded a hit and two RBI's each.Â
Dakota Hershberger added a hit and RBI, while
Taylor Williams recorded one hit for Saint Vincent as well.
A.J. Arnal took the loss in the circle in relief for the Bearcats. Farone pitched a scoreless inning in relief for Saint Vincent as well.
Saint Vincent jumped out to a 1-0 lead after an RBI-single from Henderson in the first. Grove City answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. The Bearcats scored four in the third on a two-RBI single from Bauer, RBI-single from Michalski, and RBI-single from Hamilton to give the Bearcats a 5-3 advantage.
SVC continued the offensive attack, scoring four more runs in the fourth inning. Michalski and Hershberger ripped RBI-doubles, while Farone recorded an RBI-single, and Henderson scored on a wild pitch in the inning to put the Bearcats up 9-3.
From that point on, it was all Grove City. The Wolverines had a pair of four-run innings of their own, scoring four runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Saint Vincent scored a run in the seventh on a Farone RBI-sac fly, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats fell one run short.
Saint Vincent will now await to see if they will qualify for next week's PAC playoffs. The Bearcats conclude the regular season with a 21-17 overall record and 9-11 record in PAC play.
