Saint Vincent College begins search for new wrestling coach

LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 9)- Saint Vincent College on Wednesday launched a nationwide search to fill the coaching vacancy for their head wrestling coach position.

Former Head Coach, Dom Nania has stepped down from his position as Head Coach and will be taking on a new opportunity outside of the field of athletics.

"We wish Dom (Nania) nothing, but the best of luck in all of his future endeavors," Saint Vincent Athletic Director D.P. Harris said. "We have spoken with our current wrestlers and were very transparent with each one of them during this entire process. There was complete open and honest communication with each one of our players to make sure the program is in the championship form that Coach Nania left it."

In the rebirth of the program, Saint Vincent won the Presidents Athletic Conference team championship during the 2023-24 season.

"In the area we live in, we are excited to begin the search to bring in a new head coach to continue to build our championship program," Harris explained. "At Saint Vincent, we are always committed to our student athletes first and foremost. We are here to provide each one of our student-athletes the best possible education and athletic experience and that is top on our priority list."

The Bearcats finished second this past season second in the PAC. Sean Cain and Chase Brandebura both picked up their second consecutive individual PAC Championships this season as well.

"We greatly appreciate Coach Nania's dedication and commitment to the SVC Wrestling Program and to our entire SVC Community." Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Jeff Mallory said. "In short order, Coach Nania not only restarted our wrestling program, but quickly achieved success while gaining positive attention from others in our region and nation.  Coach Nania understood the unique elements of building a program and never wavered in providing unconditional support for his student-athletes."
