GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 6)- The Saint Vincent women's golf team recorded a second place finish in the seven team field at Saturday's Thiel College Invitational.
The Bearcats shot a 361 total as a team to finish 19 strokes ahead of the host Tomcats, who finished in third place. W&J won the event with a team total of 329.
Lucy Brayton was Saint Vincent top finisher individually. Brayton finished tied for third, shooting an eight over 78. Brayton recorded nine pars and a birdie on her round.
Freshman
Myla Burchill recorded a top-15 finish in her first ever tournament with the Bearcats as well. Burchill finished 11th, carding a total score of 88. She recorded five pars and a birdie on her round.
Elizabeth DeLo and
Kylee Yoder finished back-to-back in the standings. DeLo shot a 97 to finish t-18 and Yoder carded a round of 98 for the Bearcats. DeLo recorded two pars, while Yoder recorded one par of her own.
Kharisma Zylka shot a 104 with one par for Saint Vincent as well.
Geneva's Madison Sharek and Grove City's Lauren Kardos tied for the victory, both shooting a round of 76. Kardos won the scorecard playoff to take home the individual victory.
Saint Vincent will have a quick turnaround as they begin competing tomorrow, Sunday, September 7 in the two-day Penn State-Altoona Invitational at Sinking Valley Country Club. The opening round is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
