Men's soccer drops PAC matchup at Geneva, 3-1

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 10) – The Saint Vincent College men's soccer team fell to Geneva College, 3-1, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on Saturday evening at Reeves Field.

The loss dropped the Bearcats to 6-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in PAC play, while Geneva improved to 6-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in conference action.

Saint Vincent struck first in the 30th minute when Bruno Hurtado found the back of the net for his third goal of the season, giving the Bearcats an early 1-0 advantage.

Geneva responded just under seven minutes later, as Mark Bence scored off an assist from Lucas Albani in the 37th minute, evening the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.

The Golden Tornadoes wasted little time taking the lead in the second half. Just over four minutes into the period, Bence scored his second goal of the contest, this time off an assist from Luke Main, giving Geneva a 2-1 advantage in the 50th minute.

Saint Vincent looked to find the equalizer throughout the remainder of the second half, but the Geneva defense held strong. The Golden Tornadoes added an insurance goal in the final minute of regulation, as Msafiri Amisi scored with just 22 seconds remaining to seal the 3-1 victory.

Geneva held a 13-7 advantage in total shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. The Golden Tornadoes also recorded seven corner kicks compared to three for the Bearcats.

Cameron Mulvanny and Jack Billick led the Saint Vincent offensive attack with two shots apiece, while Hurtado, Daniel Maddock, and Oziel Bonola-Soriano each recorded one shot on goal.

In net for the Bearcats, Grant Archuleta played all 90 minutes, recording three saves. Geneva goalkeeper Eli Stasiowski made two saves in the victory.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, October 13 with a road PAC matchup at Westminster. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in New Wilmington, Pa.
