WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (Mar. 2)- The Saint Vincent College softball team dropped a doubleheader against Simmons and Elizabethtown on Monday in Florida.
The Bearcats fell to Simmons by a score of 7-0 and Elizabethtown 12-3 in a run-rule shortened game.
Game 1- Simmons 7, Saint Vincent 0
Simmons scored three runs in the third and four in the fifth and that's all they needed to hand the Bearcats the non-conference loss.
Macie McHugh tallied the Bearcats lone hit of the game.Â
Mya McHugh took the loss in the circle, allowing seven runs (three earned) on 10 hits in 4.1 innings pitched. She also struck out one batter as well.
Natalie Bizup pitched 2.2 innings in relief, not allowing a run, while giving up three hits.
Game 2- Elizabethtown 12, Saint Vincent 3 (6 innings)
Elizabethtown controlled the entirety of the Bearcats second game of the day.
E'Town scored four runs in the second and six in the third to quickly jump out to a 10-0 lead. SVC added three in the fourth, but Elizabethtown scored two more in the sixth to enforce the eight-run rule in the sixth inning.

Shayna Perigo, and
Dakota Hershberger all recorded a hit each. Hershberger's hit was a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Perigo also drove in a run for SVC.
Eva Farone took the loss in the circle. She pitched 2.2 innings allowing 10 runs (zero earned) on eight hits. She also struck out two batters and walked three.
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, March 3 with another doubleheader against both Clark University and Norwich. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 10 a.m., while game two is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m.
