Bearcats rally for nine run sixth inning in game two to complete home sweep of Allegheny on senior day

LATROBE, Pa. (Mar. 29)- The Saint Vincent softball team earned a Presidents Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep against Allegheny at home on senior day.
 
Saint Vincent won the opener 6-4, before using a nine run sixth inning to come back from a 6-1 deficit to earn a 10-6 win in the finale of the doubleheader.
 
Prior to the game, Saint Vincent honored their three seniors. Lily Rush, Anita Szymoniak, and Alyssa Henderson were all honored for SVC.
 
Game 1- Saint Vincent 6, Allegheny 4
The Saint Vincent College softball team earned a 6-4 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over Allegheny College Sunday afternoon at the SVC Softball Field.
 
Saint Vincent struck first in the bottom of the first inning.
 
Eva Farone opened the frame with a single, Mackenzie Favero drew a walk, and Emily Dudenhoeffer doubled to put two runners in scoring position. Alyssa Henderson then delivered a two-run single to center, scoring Dudenhoeffer and Favero to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead.
 
The Bearcats added another run in the fourth. Samantha Farrell doubled to lead off the inning and later came home on a sacrifice fly by Lily Rush, stretching the Saint Vincent lead to 3-0.
 
Allegheny broke through in the top of the fifth, as Avery Magee singled to left field and Madalyn Myers scored to make it 3-1. Saint Vincent answered immediately in the bottom half with the decisive rally of the afternoon.
 
Farone singled to begin the inning, Favero walked, and Dudenhoeffer reached on an error to load the bases. Josey Michalski then tripled down the right-field line, driving in Dudenhoeffer, Favero, and Farone to push the Bearcats advantage to 6-1. Favero's run was unearned.
 
Allegheny mounted a late push in the sixth inning. Lauren Folino singled home two runs, and Magee followed with an RBI double to left to trim the deficit to 6-4. Saint Vincent pitcher A.J. Arnal held the Gators scoreless in the seventh to lock down the complete-game win.
 
Michalski led the Bearcats offensively by going 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBI, and a stolen base. Henderson finished 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Farone went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Dudenhoeffer doubled, scored twice, and Farrell also doubled and scored a run. Favero scored twice and drew two walks. Rush added an RBI on her sacrifice fly.
 
Arnal earned the win in the circle after tossing all seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out six and walking none. She threw 115 pitches in the complete-game effort.
 
As a team, Saint Vincent totaled seven hits, with two each from Farone and Michalski.
 
 The Bearcats did not commit an error, while Allegheny was charged with two miscues. Magee paced the Gators by going 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Folino also had two hits and drove in two runs.
 
Game 2- Saint Vincent 10, Allegheny 6
he Saint Vincent College softball team erased a five-run deficit with a nine-run bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Allegheny College, 10-6, in the second game of a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the SVC Softball Field.
 
With the win, the Bearcats improved to 8-10 overall and 2-4 in PAC play, while the Gators fell to 4-12 and 1-5 in PAC play.
Allegheny grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on an RBI single from Rachel Seneca, but Saint Vincent answered in the bottom half when Abby Bauer scored on Samantha Farrell's RBI double down the right-field line to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The Gators then scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth, and twice in the sixth to build a 6-1 advantage. Avery Magee and Seneca both drove in runs in the fourth, Jayla Jones added an RBI double in the fifth, and Allegheny's two sixth-inning runs were both unearned.
 
Saint Vincent's comeback came all at once in the sixth. Emily Dudenhoeffer reached to start the inning, Remmie Seitz entered and later moved to third, and Bauer doubled to left center to bring home the Bearcats' second run.
 
Farrell then reached on an error that allowed Seitz to score, Shayna Perigo grounded out to drive in Bauer, and Taylor Williams singled up the middle to score Farrell and make it 6-5. Dudenhoeffer followed with a two-run single that scored Eva Farone and Williams and gave SVC the lead, 7-6.
 
Remmie Seitz then added an RBI single to score Mackenzie Favero, and Josey Michalski capped the rally with a two-run single to center, plating Seitz and Dudenhoeffer for the final 10-6 margin.
 
The Bearcats finished with 12 hits in the win. Farone, Henderson, Michalski, and Bauer each recorded two hits, while Dudenhoeffer, Farrell, Seitz, and Williams added one apiece.
 
Dudenhoeffer and Michalski each drove in two runs, while Bauer, Farrell, Perigo, Seitz, and Williams each had one RBI. Bauer scored twice, Dudenhoeffer scored twice, and Seitz crossed the plate twice as well.
 
In the circle, Natalie Bizup earned the win to improve to 3-2 after tossing 6.1 innings and allowing six runs, four earned, on 12 hits while striking out one. A.J. Arnal recorded the final two outs to earn her first save of the season.
 
Allegheny was led offensively by Abby Robinson, Jayla Jones, Morgan Kinney, Avery Magee, and Rachel Seneca, who all had two hits. Seneca drove in two runs, while Magee, Jones, and Robinson each had one RBI.
 
The Gators finished with 12 hits and two errors, while Saint Vincent had 12 hits and three errors.
 
Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, March 31 with another home PAC doubleheader against Westminster. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
