CLERMONT, Fla. (Mar. 3)- The Saint Vincent softball team fell in a non-conference doubleheader in Florida on Tuesday.
The Bearcats first fell to Clark by a score of 5-4 after a seventh inning walk off. SVC followed that up with a 4-2 defeat aganst Norwich in the doubleheader finale.
Game 1- Clark 5, Saint Vincent 4
After trailing 2-1 through five innings of play, the Bearcats struck for three runs in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. However, Clark scored once in the bottom of the sixth and twice in the seventh to earn the walk off victory.
Mackenzie Favero led Saint Vincent with three hits and two runs scored.
Abby Bauer added a hit and two RBI's, while
Shayna Perigo recorded two hits and an RBI.
Emily Dudenhoeffer,
Dakota Hershberger,
Alyssa Henderson,
Josey Michalski, and
Macie McHugh all recorded one hit each as well. Hershberger also drove one run in.
Natalie Bizup started the game in the circle for the Bearcats, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits, while striking out two and walking one.
Eva Farone picked up the loss, pitching 1.1 innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on three hits.
Game 2- Norwich 4, Saint Vincent 2
The game was tied 2-2 after four innings of play. Norwich went on to score one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, while shutting the Bearcats out for the final three innings as SVC dropped the non-conference matchup.
Josey Michalski led SVC in game two with three hits, while recording one RBI as well.
Emily Dudenhoeffer added two hits and a run scored as well.
Shayna Perigo,
Dakota Hershberger, and
Mackenzie Favero all tallied one hit each. Hershberger also drove in one run as well.
A.J. Arnal pitched all seven innings for SVC in the circle. She allowed four runs (three earned) on 10 hits. She also struck out five batters and walked three.
Saint Vincent will conclude their trip to Florida with another doubleheader tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4 as they take on Carnegie Mellon and Johnson and Wales. SVC will take on CMU first at 12:15 p.m., followed by a matchup against Johnson and Wales at 2:30 p.m.
