Llamas named running backs coach and recruiting coordinator for football

LATROBE, Pa. (Aug. 11)- Saint Vincent College and Head Football Coach Casey Goff announced the hiring of Dayne Llamas to be the Bearcats new running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.

Llamas joins the Bearcats after gaining experience across NCAA Division I FCS, NCAA Division III, junior college, and high school football. Most recently, he served as Special Teams Quality Control at Villanova University, where he assisted with opponent film breakdown, scouting report development, practice organization, and game planning.

"We are excited to have Dayne come on board with us," Goff said. "(Dayne) is a young, eager, smart, and energetic coach who pays attention to detail. He is going to play a big role in the progress of our program here at Saint Vincent."

During his tenure, Villanova advanced to the NCAA FCS National Semifinals while producing several nationally ranked special teams units, including the nation's 14th-ranked kick return unit, 9th-ranked punt return unit, 26th-ranked kick return defense, and 32nd-ranked punt return defense.

Prior to Villanova, Llamas spent two seasons as Cornerbacks Coach at Illinois Wesleyan University. There, he assisted with defensive game planning, opponent analysis, player development, and recruiting. During his tenure, the Titans' defensive backs recorded 16 interceptions and produced a two-time All-Conference cornerback in Artist Benjamin.

Llamas also served as Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Lackawanna College, where he worked with offensive skill players and coordinated recruiting efforts. He helped develop five wide receivers and tight ends who went on to earn opportunities at NCAA Division I programs.

His coaching career began at Saint Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, where he coached freshman running backs and linebackers.

A former four-year football student-athlete at McDaniel College, Llamas earned a bachelor's degree in Interpersonal Communication before completing a Master of Science degree in Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity from Illinois State University.  As Saint Vincent's Running Backs Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, Llamas oversees the development of the Bearcats' running backs while directing the program's recruiting operations and assisting in all aspects of player development and program growth.
