Koller, Kerr lead Bearcats past W&J, 2-0

LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 25) – Emma Koller and Riley Kerr each scored second-half goals as the Saint Vincent women's soccer team shut out Washington & Jefferson, 2-0, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Friday evening at UPMC Field.

The Bearcats improved to 6-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in PAC play with the victory, while W&J dropped to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

After a scoreless opening half, Saint Vincent broke through in the 53rd minute. Reagan Young set up Koller, who found the back of the net for her team-leading ninth goal of the season to give the Bearcats a 1-0 advantage.

Saint Vincent continued to control the offensive attack throughout the second half, recording 10 shots over the final 45 minutes.

The Bearcats put the game away in the final minute. Addie Fisher found Kerr, who scored her fifth goal of the season with just 46 seconds remaining to increase the Saint Vincent lead to 2-0. Saint Vincent's defense turned in another strong performance to preserve the shutout. W&J recorded just four shots in the contest, all of which were on goal, with Rilyn Warner stopping all four.

The Bearcats controlled possession for much of the opening half, outshooting the Presidents 5-1 while holding a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Saint Vincent's best early opportunity came in the 10th minute when Kerr put a shot on goal, but W&J goalkeeper Adysson Davis made the save to keep the game scoreless.

Saint Vincent finished the evening with a 15-4 advantage in total shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. W&J held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Ava Justino led the Bearcats with five shots, while Kerr totaled four shots, including two on goal. Young added three shots and an assist, while Koller finished with two shots and the eventual game-winning goal.

Warner played all 90 minutes in net, making four saves to record her fifth consecutive shutout and sixth clean sheet of the season. Davis made one save in goal for the Presidents.
