Equestrian Program Information

The Saint Vincent College Equestrian Team, based out of Doubletree Farm in Loyalhanna Township, Pennsylvania, competes at Hunter Schooling Shows.

The team has 11 school horses, including quarter horses and cross, Arabian/Saddlebreds, spotted saddle/Tennessee walker horses, paints, ranch horses, draft cross and Haflinger.

The team participates in organized trail rides, lessons and various show events, while also hosting a variety of speakers.

Beginner, immediate and advanced horsemanship courses through the equestrian program are offered every fall semester, worth one credit apiece.

Club Practices take place on Fridays and Sundays each week.

The club is open to beginners who have never ridden, casual riders that enjoy pleasure riding, experienced riders willing to help others, students who like to work with animals, students who want to learn about horses and other farm life, students who enjoy the outdoors, and students who are looking to gain large animal experience.

Maggie Shero is the first student to participate in the advanced Horsemanship 3 coursework.  She is training a mustang that had been captured in Northern California.
