Rykala joined the coaching staff as the quarterbacks coach prior to the start of the 2018 season.
No stranger to the Presidents' Athletic Conference, Rykala graduated from Waynesburg University with a bachelor of science degree in Sports Management in 2012. He followed that up with a Master of Business Administration (Human Resources) degree in 2013. During his time with the Yellow Jackets, Rykala served as a student assistant coach from 2010 and 2011 seasons before being hired as a graduate assistant for the 2012 season.
During the 2012 season, Waynesburg put together one of the best seasons in school history, recording a 10-1 record. The Yellow Jackets were co-PAC champions and claimed a 28-24 victory over Carnegie Mellon in the ECAC Southwest Bowl. During the season, Rykala assisted with the offensive line, a unit that allowed just seven sacks the entire season.
Since his time at Waynesburg, Rykala has served in various offensive coaching roles in the high school ranks, including stops at nearby Hempfield Area High School and North Star High School. Both programs qualified for the playoffs during his time with the respective teams.
