Offensive line coach John Bainbridge joined the Saint Vincent College coaching staff in 2015.
In the 2021 fall season, two of Bainbridge's offensive lineman earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference accolades, with both Christian Ciecierski and Nathan Bettwy earning All-PAC Honorable Mention's ... The tandem helped to fortify a Bearcat offense that averaged 359 yards and 29.5 points per game ... They also helped Saint Vincent rush for 15 touchdowns, ranking fifth in the PAC.
During the COVID-abbreviated spring 2021 season, two of Bainbridge's pupils earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference accolades, with Colton Belmont securing First Team All-PAC laurels and Bruce Johnson Honorable Mention. Additionally, Belmont was named All-Region by D3Football.com. They helped the Bearcat offense average 30 points and 380 yards of total offense per game, including 149.5 rushing yards per contest. The Bearcat offensive front also surrendered just seven quarterback sacks over the four-game season.
A native of Everson, Pennsylvania, and Saint Vincent College graduate, Bainbridge spent more than three decades teaching and has been coaching football for more than 40 years.
He began his coaching tenure at Saint Vincent in 1976, serving as the defensive coordinator for the school's club football team. He later served as head coach at both Bishop McCort and Canon-McMillan high schools before moving back to the collegiate level in 1987, serving as DC and quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst.
In 1990, he returned to Westmoreland County to begin a 9-year stint as the head coach at Greater Latrobe High School. In 2000, he began the first of two stints as the offensive line coach at Carnegie Mellon University, before going to Connellsville HS in 2014 as Offensive Coordinator.
John is very active in the Latrobe community, and has served on the city's Parks & Recreation and zoning boards.
