Saint Vincent College

John Bainbridge

John Bainbridge

Offensive line coach John Bainbridge joined the Saint Vincent College coaching staff in 2015.

During the spring 2021 season, Bainbridge's unit helped the Bearcats rank third in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in both scoring offense (29.8 pts/gm) and total offense (382.5 yards/gm), while allowing just seven quarterback sacks over the abbreviated four-game season. Center Colton Belmont led the offensive line, as he earned All-PAC First Team and D3Football.com All-Region honors. Belmont was one of two Bearcat linemen to earn all-conferenc accolades, as he was joined by classmate Bruce Johnson, who garnered Honorable Mention All-PAC laurels.

A native of Everson, Pennsylvania, and Saint Vincent College alum, Bainbridge spent more than 30 years as a school teacher, while he has coached football at various levels for more than four decades.

He began his coaching career at Saint Vincent College in 1976, serving as defensive coordinator for the school's club football team. He later served as head coach at both Bishop McCort and Canon-McMillan high schools before moving back to the collegiate level in 1987, serving as DC and quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst.

In 1990, he returned to Westmoreland County to begin a 9-year stint as the head coach at Greater Latrobe High School.  In 2000, he began the first of two stints as the offensive line coach at Carnegie Mellon University, before going to Connellsville HS in 2014 as offensive coordinator.

John is very active in the Latrobe community, and has served on the city's Parks & Recreation and zoning boards.
