Bell has been an integral part of the Saint Vincent College Athletic Department since 2006, serving in various capacities within the football program and as the department’s strength and conditioning coordinator. His promotion to defensive coordinator in April 2023 underscores his commitment and expertise within the coaching staff.

"Coach Bell has played a significant role in shaping the Saint Vincent College football program since its revival in 2007," says head coach Aaron Smetanka. "His contributions extend beyond the field as he fosters genuine connections with student-athletes, positively impacting their lives both on and off the gridiron. I am confident in Coach Bell's ability to lead our defense to new heights."

Prior to his current role, Bell served as the defensive line coach from 2007 to 2014 and rejoined the coaching staff in 2021. His coaching tenure has been marked by the success of his defensive linemen, with nine earning All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honors under his tutelage. Notably, the Bearcat defense produced 20 quarterback sacks in 2021 and held opponents to just 113.8 rushing yards per game.

Prior to joining the Saint Vincent staff in 2006, Bell gained extensive coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels, working at Slippery Rock University, Lock Haven University, St. Joseph's College (Ind.), and Hampton High School (Allison Park, Pa.).

In addition to his coaching roles, Bell has volunteered as a strength coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers and holds certification as a sports performance coach by United States Weightlifting.

A native of Fairview, Pennsylvania, Bell earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Slippery Rock University. He, along with his wife Jayne and their cat Hamish, resides in Pittsburgh.
