A native of Miami, Florida, Coach Alvarez joined the Bearcats' coaching staff for the 2017 season.
Coach Alvarez brings experience as both a player and a coach from his time at John A. Ferguson Senior High School. He played wide receiver and was a kick/punt returner for the Falcons. Upon graduation, Alvarez remained with the program, where he has served as a wide receivers coach for the past six years.
During his time as a coach, the Falcons offense was among the top in Division 8A, which is among the most competitive in Florida and in the nation. During the past two seasons, he also served as the offensive coordinator for the junior varsity program. Alvarez also served as a strength and conditioning coordinator for the track and field program at the school.
