Josh Hager joined the Saint Vincent coaching staff in April of 2014 to serve as the defensive coordinator.
Prior to his hiring, he served as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI. The Green Knights won the Midwest Conference championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Football playoffs during both of his seasons.
In 2013, St. Norbert ranked second in the MWC in total defense, giving up 308.0 yards, and scoring defense, allowing 16.1 points. The Green Knights also led the conference in rushing defense by more than 12 yards, surrendering 102.9 yards per game on the ground. St. Norbert topped the league in sacks (30) and ranked second with 20 interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns. In total, 13 players earned All-MWC honors under his direction and one defensive back earn D3football.com All-America honors.
Prior to St. Norbert, Hager spent time at a pair of NCAA Division II schools, the University of Minnesota, Crookston, and Michigan Tech. He served as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator for four seasons at Michigan Tech before taking over as defensive coordinator at Crookston for one season.
Before arriving at Michigan Tech, Hager spent one season as the wide receivers coach at NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (then Division I-AA) Central Connecticut State. In advance of his days at CCSU, Hager worked at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., coaching the linebackers, defensive line and tight ends during his time at the Division II school.
Hager played quarterback at Dickinson State University (ND) for four years and began his coaching career there in 1996. He moved on to Valley City State University (ND) to complete his bachelor’s degree in elementary and physical education in 1999. He earned his master’s degree in secondary administration from the University of Mary in 2006.
Hager and his wife Krystal have four daughters Monica (20), Soleil (12), Tenley (4) & Kaylee and live in Latrobe.
