Kenne Johnson brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Saint Vincent College football program, joining as the Wide Receiver Coach & Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for the Bearcats in March 2024.
With eight years of coaching experience spanning both collegiate and high school levels, Johnson is well-equipped to contribute to the success of the Bearcats.
Most recently, he spent two seasons on the coaching staff at Shepherd University. In 2020, Johnson served as the Rams’ defensive line coach, playing a pivotal role in guiding the defensive unit’s development. In 2019, Shepherd led the PSAC in interceptions and ranked eighth nationally with 20. The Rams boasted impressive defensive statistics, recording 34 sacks and 91 tackles-for-loss.
Before his tenure at Shepherd University, Johnson served as the defensive line coach and defensive passing game coordinator at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, during the 2018 season. Before that, he was defensive coordinator at Lincoln University in 2017.
Johnson's college coaching career began at Frostburg State University, where he coached wide receivers, defensive line, and served as the recruiting coordinator from 2014 to 2016.
Prior to his collegiate coaching roles, Johnson honed his coaching skills at the high school level as the defensive line coach at Randallstown High School in Maryland for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
As a former collegiate athlete, Johnson played football at Lincoln University from 2009 to 2012, where he earned recognition as the team’s Most Valuable Player in his final two seasons. He showcased his talent through outstanding statistics in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks. Johnson was also actively involved in student leadership roles, serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and assuming the presidency of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship.
Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in health science from Lincoln University and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Frostburg State University.
Residing in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Johnson is happily married to his wife, Zsa Zsa Cobb-Johnson, and they have a son, Kenneth Johnson II.
