Phil Hamilton returned to his alma mater, Saint Vincent, in January of 2019 to become the team's offensive coordinator.

During his first season on the Bearcat sidelines, three members of the Bearcat offense earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference accolades, highlighted by running back Mike Stasko, who set a team record with 907 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 2019 Bearcat offense averaged 29.7 points and 324.5 yards per game, 12 more points and 80 more yards than the 2018 season.

In SVC's COVID-abbreviated spring 2021 season, the offense continued to make strides under Hamilton. The squad ranked among the top three in the PAC in scoring offense (29.8 points/gm), total offense (382.5 yards/gm) and passing offense (233.3 yards/gm). Six members of the offensive unit earned All-PAC accolades, including running backs Stasko and David Marshall, linemen Colton Belmont and Bruce Johnson, quarterback Brady Walker and wide receiver Keith Kalp. Belmont was also named All-Region by D3Football.com, while Walker led the PAC with 10 touchdowns over the four-game season, while he finished second in the league in passing yards (897) and pass efficiency rating (162.9). In the Bearcats' week two 35-6 win at Bethany, the team set a program record by amassing 27 first downs, while in their week four win over Waynesburg, SVC scored 52 points, the team's most in a game since the 2016 season, and gained 543 yards of total offense.

In the 2021 fall season, SVC had the fourth ranked offense in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Bearcats led the PAC in total passing yards with 3,390 yards on the season, placing third in the conference with 44 touchdeowns and fourth in yards-per-game at 372.4. Five Bearcats earned All-PAC accolades, including Walker, wide receiver Molayo Irefin, offensive linemen Nathan Bettwy and C.J. Ciecierski.

In 2022, Hamilton's offense was the third highest-scoring unit in the conference with an average of 28.6 points per game, while SVC's 22 passing touchdowns were second-most in the league. Walker, who again earned All-PAC accolades, led the PAC with 21 touchdown passes, while he ranked second with 2,015 passing yards. Irefin also repeated as an all-conference performer, recording 62 catches for 732 yards and eight touchdowns.

Hamilton spent the 2016-2018 seasons as offensive coordinator at Clarion University. During his time there, Hamilton coached 5 offensive all-conference selections, including Zach Morris (2016, 17 & 18), the first 1st team All Conference selection on the offensive line since 2002. Hamilton also coached several All-Region selections, and Don Hansen 3rd Team All-American Selection Kevin Genevro. In 2016, Genevro finished the season with 65 catches, 1069 receiving yards and 13 TDs.

Under his direction, Clarion’s offense also broke several long standing school records. Connor Simmons broke the schools all-time passing TD record, finishing with 67. Matt Lehman also tied the school's 31-year receiving TD record, finishing with 25.

Prior to his time at Clarion, Hamilton was the Offensive Coordinator at Greensburg Central Catholic in 2015. GCC finished the season 7-3 and earned a WPIAL Playoff berth.

From 2010-2015, Hamilton helped build the football program at Stevenson University in Maryland as part of the inaugural football staff. Hamilton carried the titles of QB Coach, Recruiting Coordinator and Information Coordinator for the football program. In just its fourth year of existence, the Stevenson program earned an ECAC South Bowl Championship victory over Bethany College, wrapping up an 8-3 season.

Additionally, he has also spent 9 years working with the DC/Maryland/VA based Quarterback Factory, helping to train many Division 1 quarterback talents. The programs helps to develop young quarterbacks physically and mentally as they prepare to play HS and college football.

Part of the inaugural recruiting class at Saint Vincent College in 2006, Hamilton became the first QB in modern school history in 2007, throwing the first touchdown pass in over 40 years for SVC football. His first game and the Bearcats inaugural game, included a 15-for-25 performance with 2 touchdowns. After injuries cut his playing career short, Hamilton stayed with the program as a student assistant in 2008 and 2009, assisting on the offensive side of the ball and with the recruitment of prospective student athletes.

A native of Davidsonville, Maryland, and a graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School, Hamilton resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Chrissy (SVC Class of 2011), their son Jack and dog, Penny.
