Andy Herr took the helm of the men's cross country program in 2003, and has been a member of the faculty since 1996. Herr has also served as the head coach for the Bearcat track team since the program's inception in 2010.
Coach Herr has earned PAC Coach of the Year honors six times in cross country (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016). Herr helped guide the Bearcats to seven straight PAC cross country titles from 2010-16.Â
Andy was a two-time high school state champion in Ohio, winning the cross country title in 1982 (15:08 for 5K) and the 3200 meter title on the track in 1983 (9:09). He attended North Carolina State University, where he was a 3-time NCAA qualifier in cross country and an All-ACC performer in track. Andy has continued to run competitively and qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials in the marathon with a time of 2:21:26.
