Saint Vincent College alumna Marissa (Frollo) Bartha joined the men's and women's swimming team coaching staff in July 2022.
A 2017 SVC graduate, Bartha returns to her alma mater after spending the past five seasons on the swimming coaching staff at Division I Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
From 2018-22, Bartha was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the Mount, after serving as the team’s graduate assistant coach during the 2017-18 campaign. She assisted in all day-to-day operations of the men’s and women’s swimming programs, including designing and managing practices and training sessions, overseeing all recruiting and coordinating travel.
At the Mount, she coached one qualifier for the 2021 Paralympic Trials, two CSCAA National Invitational Championships qualifying teams and saw a number of swimmers set school records throughout her four seasons. Additionally, both the men’s and women’s teams from the Mount were perennially recognized as CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams.
During her time at Saint Vincent, Bartha was a standout for the Bearcat women’s swimming team. A two-year team captain and four-year All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honoree, she remains arguably the top sprinter in program history. As a senior in 2017, she helped the Bearcats to runner-up finishes at the PAC Championships in the 200 and 400 medley and 200 and 400 freestyle relays, while she placed third in the 50 freestyle. She was a part of three consecutive PAC championship-winning 200 freestyle relay teams from 2013-16 and was a two-time conference champion in the 50 freestyle. She remains the Saint Vincent team record-holder in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Bartha earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Saint Vincent College, before earning a master’s in sport management at Mount Saint Mary’s. She is a native of Pittsburgh and graduate of Penn Hills High School. She and her husband, Alex, reside in North Versailles.
