Cheyton Pine joins the Saint Vincent College football staff as the linebackers coach, bringing with him a decorated playing career and strong foundation of coaching experience.
 A standout prep athlete at Lafayette High School in Virginia, Pine was rated the state’s top outside linebacker prospect by Scout and earned First Team Group 4A All-State honors. He was named The Virginia Gazette Player of the Year after compiling 80 tackles, 11 sacks, and 25 tackles for loss as a senior.
In addition to his defensive dominance, Pine also excelled as Lafayette’s starting quarterback, throwing for more than 1,500 yards with 23 touchdowns and rushing for eight more scores while leading his team to a 12-1 record and a berth in the Virginia Group 4A playoffs. He competed in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and the Nike 757 All-Star Football Classic, where he was named Defensive MVP.
Pine went on to play six seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a linebacker for the Panthers under head coach Pat Narduzzi. During his Pitt career, he was part of two ACC Coastal Division Championship teams (2018, 2021) and the 2021 ACC Championship team, contributing to one of the program’s most successful eras in recent history.
Following his playing career, Pine transitioned into coaching, quickly building experience at multiple levels of the game. He has served as Defensive Coordinator at Bishop Canevin High School in Pittsburgh, as well as Defensive Coordinator for Goblins 7on7, a nationally competitive program. He has also coached at Mt. Lebanon High School (Defensive Line Coach) and Elizabeth Forward High School (Linebackers Coach). His coaching background includes developing defensive game plans, leading position groups, conducting opponent scouting and film breakdown, and mentoring athletes both on and off the field.
Pine holds an Associate of Arts degree in Cybersecurity from the University of Pittsburgh. His coaching philosophy emphasizes toughness, preparation, and leadership, with a strong focus on helping student-athletes develop into well-rounded individuals who excel both on the field and in life.
