Sam Stevenson joined the Saint Vincent men's lacrosse coaching staff in August 2024.
Stevenson comes to Saint Vincent after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, North Central College, in Naperville, Illinois. Stevenson primarily worked with the Cardinals’ defense, while he also oversaw the program’s recruiting operations and worked side-by-side with head coach Jay Farrell in all day-to-day aspects of the program, including developing travel plans, coordinating travel and ordering equipment. Over Stevenson’s two years on the North Central coaching staff, the Cardinals went a combined 21-10 and qualified for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) playoffs each year.
Along with his collegiate coaching experience at North Central, Stevenson has also coached club lacrosse, with Team One Lacrosse in Naperville, Illinois, and Yeti Lacrosse in West Dundee, Illinois.
As a student-athlete, Stevenson was a close defenseman, long-stick midfielder and short-stick defensive midfielder at North Central. He twice earned academic all-conference honors and helped the Cardinals to their first CCIW championship in 2022 and a trip to the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse National Championship Tournament.
A native of Lisle, Illinois, Stevenson graduated from North Central with honors with a bachelor’s degree in journalism/media communication, before earning a Master of Fine Arts in professional and creative writing.
