SVC splits with Penn State-Behrend at Resnik Pool

The Saint Vincent swim teams opened the home portion of the 2010-11 season with a split decision against Penn State-Behrend.  The women's team won by a score of 147-101, while the men lost a close contest, 143-128.

SVC's first win of the day came in the 1000 Free, as freshman Sam Cline was a winner in 10:50.46.  Casey Whittaker was a double winner on the day, capturing the 200 Butterfly (2:07.57) and the 200 IM (2:08.37). 

Freshman Kelsey Linstrum was a winner for the Lady Bearcats in the 200 Free, timed in 2:08.73, with teammate Amanda Haile finishing second in 2:09.49.  Linstrum and Haile also finished 1-2 in the 500 Free, timed in 5:43.34 and 5:47.75, respectively. 

Also winning events for the Lady Bearcats were Mary Kate Kenna in the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.75, while teammate Christine Dunleavy finished second in 1:13.38) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:37.82), Katie Custer in the 50 Free (25.30) and 100 Free (56.43), Kenna in the 200 IM (2:24.45), and the team of Custer, Jess Kennedy, Carolyn Claybrooks and Linstrum in the 400 Free Relay (3:52.70).

Next up for Saint Vincent will be the three-day Blue Devil Invitational, hosting by Fredonia State College in New York, December 3-5.
