SVC competes in Blue Devil Invite

The Bearcat men's swimming team finished fifth out of nine teams at the three-day Blue Devil Invitational, hosted by Fredonia State (NY) University.

Saint Vincent finished with a team score of 341, besting Oswego State, Pitt-Bradford, Brockport, and Monroe Community.  Penn State-Behrend took the team title, with a score of 767.5, followed by Denison (607), Fredonia State (582), and Baldwin-Wallace (532).

The weekend was highlighted by the Saint Vincent foursome of Logan Dorminey, Casey Whittaker, Sam Cline, and Matt Linebaugh setting a new school record in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 7:29.24, good for fourth place.

The Bearcats were strong in relay action throughout the weekend, as the foursome of Adam Thomas, Dan Kostovny, Whittaker, and Dorminey taking sixth in the 400 Medley with a time of 3:49.75.  Linebaugh, Dorminey, Adam Thomas, and Whittaker also finished sixth in the 400 Free Relay, with a time of 3:21.95.

The 1,650 Free saw three Bearcats finish in the top 10, as Zack Krejdovsky took third (17:43), Cline fourth (18:10), and Kreighton Long seventh (18:12.)  Krejdovsky also added a seventh-place finish in the 500 Free, timed in 5:04.97.  

In addition to his contributions in relays, Whittaker was the Bearcats' top finisher in the 100 Fly (4th/54.35), 100 Free (6th/49.45), and 200 IM (8th/2:04.54).  Tom Nielsen paced the Bearcats in both the 100 Back (7th/56.97) and 200 Back (8th/2:09.70), while Kostovny led SVC with a ninth-place time of 1:04.83 in the 100 Breast.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Mount Union at 1pm in the Resnik Pool.
