SVC splits with Wheeling Jesuit


FULL RESULTS

The Saint Vincent swimmers split with visiting Wheeling Jesuit University, as the Lady Bearcats beat the Cardinals 115-90, while the Bearcat men were defeated 102-89 at the Resnik Pool. 

The Lady Bearcats took first in seven of 11 events on the evening, led by Carolyn Claybrooks.  The freshman touched first in the 500 Free, timed in 5:34.36, and 200 Free (2:03.24), while she was also part of SVC's victorious 400 Free Relay squad, along with Katie Custer, Kelsey Linstrum, and Maggie Dempsey, that won with a time of 3:49.60.

Christine Dunleavy also had multiple wins, as she took first in the 50 Free (26.22) and 100 Breaststroke (1:11.56), while helping the 200 Medley Relay foursome of Custer, Dempsey, and Jess Kennedy win with a time of 1:55.73.

In addition to the 400 Free Relay, Custer took first in the 100 Butterfly, timed in 1:01.86, as well as helping the 200 Medley Relay foursome of Dunleavy, Jess Kennedy, and Dempsey take first with a time of 1:55.73.

Kennedy also turned in a pair of individual second-place finishes, including the 50 Free (26.37) and 100 Free (57.46).   Sarah Denning took second in the 100 Back, timed in 1:07.89.  

In men's action, the Bearcats received a pair of individual victories, as Troy Linebaugh earned the win in the 50 Free, timed in 23.34 seconds, and Sam Cline won the 500 Free with a time of 5:02.43.

The Saint Vincent men received four individual second-place finishes.  Casey Whittaker touched second in the 200 Individual Medley, with a time of 2:05.30, Tom Nielsen in the 100 Back (58.02), and Zack Krejdovsky in the 1000 Free (10:35.80).

In relay action, the Bearcat men's foursome of Whittaker, Nielsen, Adam Thomas, and Matt Linebaugh earned a second place finish in the 400 Freestyle, with a time of 3:25.68. 

With the non-conference victory, the Lady Bearcats improve to 6-5 on the year, while the SVC men fall to 4-6.  Both teams will return to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Presidents' Athletic Conference power Westminster College for a 1pm meet.
