Grove City sweeps SVC swimmers


FULL RESULTS

The Grove City Wolverines defeated both the men's and women's swim teams in PAC action at Grove City.

The Bearcat women lost by a score of 150-104, while the men's final score was 151-71. 

Alyssa Taylor earned first place in the 200 Butterfly, posting a time of 2:17.95, a school record by nearly five seconds.  Sarah Robbins finished third in the same race, timed in 2:23.12.

In the 50 Freestyle, Alexis Ferraco finished a strong second in 25.75, missing the win by just .13.  Ferraco then returned to take second in the 100 Free, timed in 56.70. 

Molly McCloskey turned in a strong performance in the women's 1650 Freestyle, finishing second in 19:39.54.

In the 100 Backstroke, Jess Smrekar took second place with a 1:05.90 time, while Sarah Robbins was second in the 100 Butterfly, timed in 1:01.93. 

For the Bearcat men, Joe Woodman earned a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke (2:08.95), and Matt Linebaugh was a close third in the 50 Free (23.25), missing first by just .07.  Zach Ligus was a strong second in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:08.56.  Andy Moog was third in the 100 Breaststroke, timed in 1:05.96, just .02 out of second place. 

Both teams will open the home portion of the 2011-12 schedule this coming Saturday, November 12, hosting Pitt-Bradford at 1PM at the Resnik Pool.
