The Saint Vincent women's tennis team lost its first match of the 2011 season, narrowly falling to Westminster College by a score of 5-4. Later in the day, SVC rebounded to defeated Pitt-Greensburg, 8-1.
Against Westminster in a match played on the SVC courts, the Bearcats captured two doubles matches, with the teams of
Morgan Dolinar/
Jessa Paruch and
Stephanie Rubin/
Emily Morris posting victories.
In singles play, wins by Dolinar and Morris gave SVC four wins on the day, and both
Amanda Gans (#2) and Rubin (#4) took their matches to three sets before falling to their opponents.
Later in the day, the Bearcats traveled to the Greensburg Racquet Club for a match against Pitt-Greensburg.
SVC captured all three doubles matches, with victories by the teams of Paruch/
Kylie Auman,
Danielle Van Devere/
Regina Woloshun, and
Chantal Mitchell/
Janelle Giunta. The Bearcats then captured five of six singles matches to secure the win.
The team returns to action on Wednesday for their toughest test of the year - perennial Presidents' Athletic Conference champion Grove City College - on the road.
