The Saint Vincent men's and women's swimming teams dropped the home and Presidents' Athletic Conference openers to Grove City.
On the women's side, the Bearcats won five of 14 events, while the men captured first place in eight of 14 events.
Both SVC teams won the respective 200 yard medley relay, as Jess Smrekar, Alexis Ferraco, Alyssa Taylor and Katie Custer finished with a time of 1:55.46, less than one second ahead of Grove City's 'A' relay team. The men's relay of

Matt Linebaugh claimed first by more than one second with a time of 1:42.26.
In the men's 200 freestyle, Linebaugh earned the win by almost three seconds with a time of 1:49.89 before Signore broke the one-minute barrier in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.46.
Moog kept the Bearcats winning ways up with a two-plus second win in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:03.16.
In the women's 50 freestyle, SVC took the top two spots as Custer and Allison Friery finished just .37 apart, with Custer winning in 25:30.
Ferraco squeaked out a win in the 100 freestyle by .05 with a time of 55.05, while Linebaugh made it an SVC sweep in the event with his time of 49.53.
Smrekar and Molly McCloskey earned the top two spots in the women's 200 backstroke, with Smrekar earning the win by .49 with a time of 2:23.21.
SVC claimed both wins in the 200 breaststroke as Mary Kate Kenna won the women's race by more than three seconds with a time of 2:40.20 and Moog won the men's race by more than a second in 2:23.43.
Whittaker posted the victory in the men's 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 55.68, while Signore claimed the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:35.17, to win the event by more than 12 seconds.
Both teams will be back in action next Saturday, Nov. 10, with a tri-meet at Pitt-Bradford with Buffalo State (N.Y.)
