Women's tennis pushes to 9-0 with sweep of Chatham



PITTSBURGH (Sept. 29) - The Saint Vincent women's tennis team remained unbeaten with a 9-0 victory over Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

The Bearcats remain unblemished on the year with a 9-0 record with a 4-0 mark in PAC contests. Chatham falls to 0-5 on the season and 0-4 in league play.

SVC dropped swept through doubles action with the first doubles tandem of junior Amanda Gans and freshman Shayla Landman posting an 8-1 victory over Chatham's Alexa Coughenour and Alisa Boslett. At second doubles, senior Stephanie Rubin and freshman Jacquelyn Hauser earned an 8-4 win over Linah Richer and Allie Makosky. Senior Jessica McKetta and sophomore Kylie Auman concluded doubles play with an 8-2 win over Jenny Murphy and Cory Doman at the third position.

In singles play, SVC dropped just 10 sets with Gans sweeping Richer at first singles, 6-0, 6-0, to highlight the competition. Landman earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Coughenour at second singles. Hauser, McKetta and Auman each posted 6-1, 6-0 victories at fourth, fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Rubin defeated Boslett, 6-0, 7-5, at third singles.

SVC returns to action on Monday, Oct. 1, hosting 25-time defending-PAC champion Grove City at 3:30 p.m. on the SVC Courts.
