The SVC men's swimming team overcame much of a 32-point deficit, but lost to Washington & Jefferson by a score of 151-140 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

The early scoring issue was not the fault of the SVC team.  A problem with the diving board resulted in the cancelation of the 1-meter diving event.  By PAC rule, W&J was thereby awarded all points for first, second and third in each of two events.  Therefore, the SVC men trailed by a score of 32-0 before the first swimmer reached the water on the night.

Reigning PAC Swimmer of the Week Zach Ligus continued his strong performances for the Bearcats, winning the 1000 Free, 200 Fly and 100 Fly.

Matt Linebaugh also captured three individual events, taking first in the 50 Free, 200 Free and 500 Free.

Andy Moog was a winner in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, while Casey Whittaker won the 100 Free for the Bearcats.

The 400 Free Relay team of Whittaker, Tanner Beal, Allen Sant and Linebaugh also were winners on the night, while the 200 Free Relay team of Whittaker, Moog, Ligus and Sant had to settle for a close second place, losing by just 4/100ths of a second to their counterparts from W&J.

SVC returns to action on Saturday in Pittsburgh, facing Bethany College in a meet that will take place at Chatham University.
