The Saint Vincent women's basketball team used a bevy of three-pointers to down the Thiel Tomcats by a score of 83-45.
Thiel opened the game with a three, but Collins hit back-to-back shots from outside the arc to make it 6-3, and SVC never trailed again.
After five straight points from
Ashlee Darby, the Bearcat lead was 18-9, then Collins swished two more back-to-back treys to run the lead to fifteen, 24-9.
Jessica Hentrel,
Kelley Sedlock and
Jillian Kegg each added three-pointers as the lead grew to 27 at the half, 46-19.
The second half brought more of the same, with Collins hitting a pair of threes to make it a 54-30 game. A three and a putback by Darby ran the lead to 30 near the eight minute mark, 68-38, and SVC rolled to the win.
For the game, SVC hit 12 three-pointers - from six different shooters - and out-rebounded the Tomcats by a 52-39 margin.
Collins led all scorers with 18 points, shooting 6-for-9 from outside the arc. Darby had a career-best 14, while
Taylor Mathers and
Ariel Rocco added 10 each. Kegg added 8 points in just 10 minutes of play.
Devin McGrath had 11 rebounds while
Jordan Clinton tallied 10.
For Thiel (5-15, 4-9 Presidents' Athletic Conference), Kelly Barzak scored 17 points, while Kelly Muffley added 16.
Saint Vincent is now 15-5 overall, 11-2 in the PAC. The team will host Grove City on Saturday at 4PM in the Carey Center.
