FULL RESULTS
LATROBE (Jan. 18) - The Saint Vincent men earned a Presidents' Athletic Conference win over Bethany and the women earned wins over Bethany and Chatham at the Resnik Pool.
The Bearcat men defeated Bethany in the dual meet, 128-115, and the Bearcat women topped the Bison 142-111 and Chatham 146-103 in the event.
SVC women began with a 200 medley relay win as
Carolyn Claybrooks,
Molly Ruffner,
Anita Onufer and
Alyssa Taylor posted a time of 2:01.12. In the next event,
Sarah Robbins captured the 1000 freestyle by 34 seconds with a time of 11:28.51.
The Bearcats made it three in a row when
Paige Pecora narrowly downed Claybrooks by .05 to win the 200 freestyle in 2:06.15. Later,
Marissa Frollo was timed at 1:11.86 to earn the victory in the 100 breaststroke.
Claybrooks added to her solid performance with a 200 butterfly win in 2:37.46. Pecora earned her second freestyle win, with a time of 56.58 in the 100-yard event.
Jess Smrekar added another victory for the Bearcats with a time of 2:20.97 in the 200 backstroke and later Onufer would have posted the victory in the 200 individual medley with her time of 2:24.83, but she swam as an exhibition. SVC also would have captured the 200 freestyle relay if not for exhibition scoring with a time of 1:44.04.
On the men's side,
Andy Moog kicked off the wins for SVC with a time of 11:40.67 in the 1000 freestyle.
Matt Linebaugh earned the win in the 200 freestyle in 1:52.02,
Zach Ligus won the 100 freestyle in 48.92 and
Adam Tran made it a freestyle sweep for the Bearcats, touching the wall in the 50 free in 22.95.
In the 100 backstroke,
Henry Signore earned a three-second victory, coming in under one minute at 59.17.
Xander Emili touched the wall in 1:02.55 to win the 100 breaststroke, and 55.11 in the 100 butterfly, while Ligus tallied a victory in the 200 butterfly in 2:03.17. Linebaugh wrapped up the Bearcats' scoring events with a time of 2:09.76 and win in the 200 backstroke.
In exhibitions, Signore had the best time (5:18.09) in the 500 freestyle and Linebaugh, Emili, Tran and Ligus recorded a 1:30.05 in the 200 free relay.
SVC returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 25 for a senior day meet against Westminster at 1 p.m.
