Men's Swimming drops PAC meet to Westminster

LATROBE (Jan. 25) - The Saint Vincent men's swimming team suffered a 150-108 loss to visiting Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Senior Day at the Resnik Pool.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 4-5 on the year in dual meets, and they conclude PAC action with a 2-2 mark.

Saint Vincent won four events on the day, as Zach Ligus played a role in three of those victories. The junior captured the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.72, to post the two-second victory. He then took the 100 fly, besting teammate Xander Emili by .07, touching the wall in 53.85.

The 200 free relay posted the victory with a time of 1:29.06, as Ligus, Adam Tran, Matt Linebaugh and Allen Sant won by more than a second. The Bearcats had the best split in three of the four legs of the event.

Earlier in the meet, Tran posted the victory in the 50 free, sprinting to a time of 22.78 and a margin of victory of .07.

The Bearcats had multiple seconds on the afternoon as well, beginning with the 200 medley relay as Emili, Andy Moog, Ligus and Linebaugh were timed in 1:39.44, less than two seconds off the pace.

Matt Crum placed second in the 1000 free at 10:42.91 and the 500 free in 5:15.26. Linebaugh was second by .43 in the 200 free with his time of 1:50.09 and was also timed at 49.60 in the 100 free, 1.60 behind the winner.

Moog took second in both the 100 breast (1:01.12) and the 200 breast (2:18.17).

SVC will travel to Penn State Behrend on Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 1 p.m. dual meet which will bring the dual meet season to a close.
