Bearcats drop conference finale, 153-101

LATROBE (Jan. 25) - The Bearcats closed out the Presidents' Athletic Conference regular season slate with a 153-101 setback to Westminster on Senior Day at the Resnik Pool.

The loss drops the Saint Vincent women's swimming team's dual meet record to 5-5 on the season, while SVC finishes with an overall winning 3-2 mark in the conference.

The Bearcats did well in freestyle events, winning the 50, 100 and 200 relay. Marissa Frollo earned the close victory in the 50 free, sprinting to a time of 25.12 to win by .41. Alexis Ferraco then posted an even closer finish in the 100 free, winning by just .14 with a time of 56.35. The two were part of the winning 200 free relay team that posted the victory in 1:42.70, as Ferraco, Sarah Robbins, Alyssa Taylor and Frollo earned the win.

The team of Jess Smrekar, Frollo, Taylor and Robbins finished second by .57 in the 200 medley relay to begin the day. Paige Pecora claimed second in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.24.

Taylor registered in 2:19.83 in the 200 fly, good for second place. Robbins placed second in the 500 free with a time of 5:29.46. Molly McCloskey won the 400 IM in 5:00.72, which was slightly over a second more than Westminster's time used as an exhibition.

SVC will travel to Penn State Behrend on Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 1 p.m. dual meet which will bring the dual meet season to a close.
