Presidents win close match over Bearcats, 5-4


BOX SCORE

The Saint Vincent women's tennis team lost to Washington & Jefferson College on the road by a score of 5-4 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

The Bearcats trailed 3-0 after doubles play, storming back to win four of six singles matches, but it wasn't enough, as SVC dropped to 5-3 in the PAC.  W&J, which like Saint Vincent entered the match with a 5-2 conference record.

Jackii Hauser won her #1 singles match in a tight contest, 7-6 and 6-4.  Regina Woloshun was a straight-set winner, 6-1 and 6-3.

SVC's other singles wins were shortened to a single set due to inclement weather.  Kylie Auman (#2) won her match 8-2, while Susie Ellis (#3) was an 8-1 winner.

Saint Vincent is now 7-5 overall on the season, and the team's 5-3 conference record is good for 4th place in the final regular season standings.  The PAC Conference Championships will begin Friday, October 24 at the Pennbriar Club in Erie.
