Complete Men's Results Complete Women's Results LANCASTER, Pa. (Sunday, Nov. 23) - The Saint Vincent men's swimming finished in third place after three days of competition at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, totaling 454 team points. The Bearcat women's team came in eighth place of the 12 competing teams, with a total of 185 team points.
During Sunday's final session, freshman
Alex Bolen finished in fourth place in the 500 Free, with a time of 4:48.22. Junior
Matt Crum came in sixth place in the event with a time of 4:51.49. Senior
Zach Ligus put together a fourth place finish in the 100 Free, touching the wall in 47.29. Senior
Andy Moog came in fourth place in the 100 Breaststroke, clocking in at 58.42. Sophomore
Xander Emili finished in sixth place in the 200 Butterfly, with a time of 1:59.14. Sophomore
Kyle Garase finished in the top five in the Men's 200 IM, with a time of 2:00.42. The Bearcats relay team finished in 5th place of 18 teams in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The team consisted of Garase, Bolen, Emili and Ligus.
On the women's side, the relay team of
Sarah Robbins,
Marla Turk,
Alexis Ferraco and
Marissa Frollo finished in 7th place of 24 teams in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Senior
Molly McCloskey finished in 10th place in the 200 Butterfly, hitting the wall with a time of 2:15.76. Frollo also finished with a time of 54.16 in the 100 Free.
Saturday's RecapIn the morning session, the team of Ligus, Emili, Garase and Bolen set a new school record in the 800 Free Relay, posting a time of 7:03.29 to finish in second place in the event.
On the men's side in the evening session, the 200 Medley Relay Team missed setting a new school record by .01 second. The team consisted of
Adam Gordish, Moog, Garase and Emili, and they finished with a time of 1:37.95. Bolen finished sixth in the 200 Free, timing in at 1:46.94. SVC put together a solid finish in the 100 Butterfly, placing three among the top six finishers. Ligus came in third, while Garase was right behind him in fourth place and Emili finished in sixth. Ligus also chipped in a fourth place finish in the 50 Free, clocking in at 21.58.
On the women's side in the morning session, Turk broke the school record in the 400 IM, coming in at 4:52.30. In the 800 Free Relay, the SVC team of Turk, Robbins, Ferraco and McCloskey finished 10th of of 24 teams, with a time of 8:16.81.
Moving to the evening session on Saturday, Turk eclipsed her own record from the preliminary round, finishing up with a time of 4:40.10, a full 12 seconds better than earlier in the day. Frollo finished in fourth place in the 50 Free A Final, with a time of 24.59. The 200 Medley Relay team of
Jess Smrekar, Ferraco, Frollo and Turk finished in 7th place of 24 schools, touching the wall at 1:52.81.
Friday's RecapThe Bearcats men's and women's swimming teams completed day one of three at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational. Saint Vincent competed in all six events on the opening day of competition.
The Saint Vincent men are tied for fourth place among nine competing schools. The Bearcat women's squad is currently placed in eighth out of 10 schools.
Crum put together the night's best performance, finishing in second place in the Men's 1650 Freestyle event, with a time of 16:44.71. With that time, Crum also set a school record in the event. Gordish finished seventh in the event with a time of 17:11.98.
The Bearcats 400 Medley Relay team finished in fourth place with a time of 3:32.64. The quartet featured Emili, Moog, Ligus, and Bolen.
The Bearcats 200 Freestyle Relay team of Ligus, Bolen,
Matt Tashima and
Allen Sant put together a time of 1:28.19, to finish in seventh place among 17 teams in the event.
On the women's side of things, the relay team of Ferraco, Smrekar, Robbins and Frollo finished in fourth place of 23 competing teams in the Women's 200 Freestyle Relay. The group checked in with a time of 1:39.77.
McCloskey finished in seventh place in the 1650 Freestyle event, touching the wall with a time of 18:26.57, a time that established a new school record. Turk took 15th among the 32 competitors in the event.
