FULL RESULTSThe SVC men's swimming team put in a strong performance, defeating Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Bethany College on the road, 181-86.
The team opened the day with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, as
Adam Gordish,
Andy Moog,
Zach Ligus and
Matt Crum won in 1:42.73, just over 1/10 of a second ahead of teammates
Adam Tran,
Xander Emili,
Kyle Garase and Kam Faychak.
The first individual event of the day was the 1650 Freestyle, and SVC captured the first five positions, with
Alex Bolen taking top honors in 17:28.06, finishing ahead of
Sean Doyle and
Brian Flynn.
Garase finished first in the 200 Free in 1:51.58, while Crum and Gordish followed in second and third, respectively. Â Moog was the winner in the 100 Backstroke, in 1:01.45, while Doyle finished second in 1:01.82. Â
In the 100 Breaststroke, Ligus finished ahead of
Matt Kenney and
Nick Patton, as SVC once again took the top three positions. Â Ligues was timed in 1:04.22. Â Matthew Tashima was the winner in the 200 Fly, in 2:17.97.
The 50 Free was won by Emili in 22.47, with Tran finishing second in 22.77. Â Tran then won the 100 Free in 50.56, with Bolen second (50.75) and Garase third (53.14). Â Emili later returned to win the 200 Back in 2:04.42 by more than 10 seconds over Flynn and
Chad Linebaugh, who were second and third.
The 200 Breaststroke was won by Doyle in 2:25.36, with Patton finishing second (2:32.83) and
Michael Brinker third (2:36.88). Â In the 500 Free, Ligus was the winner in 5:01.44, with Crum and Gordish finishing next.
The 100 Fly resulted in a Bethany win, with Faychak finishing a close second in 1:00.36, just over 3/10 of a second behind the winner. Â
Marshall Grubb was third in 1:01.43.
Moog tripped the timer first in the 200 IM in 2:13.51, while the 200 Free Relay team of Ligus,
Allen Sant, Gordish and Linebaugh finished first in 1:34.67.
Saint Vincent is now 3-0 in the PAC, and will travel to Westminster College on Saturday (January 24) for their final conference head-to-head meet of the year, in advance of the conference championships in February.
