BOX SCORENEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Jan. 24) – The Saint Vincent men's swimming team dropped a 163-94 decision at Westminster. The Bearcat women's team fell to the Titans by a score of 148-109. The matchup was the last Presidents' Athletic Conference meet of the regular season.
The loss drops the Bearcat men to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the PAC. The Bearcat women's swimming team now holds a 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the PAC.
The Bearcat women were led by freshman
Marla Turk, who took first place in the Women's 1000 Freestyle, with a time of 11:05.55. Turk's time was 13 seconds faster than the next closest competitor. Turk also took first place in the 500 Freestyle, with a time of 5:24.17. Turk finished eight seconds ahead of the next finisher. Turk added another first place finish, coming in at 4:50.28 in the 400 IM. Her teammates
Molly McCloskey and
Casi Smith finished in second and third place in the event.
Sophomore
Marissa Frollo finished first in the Women's 50 Freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 25.17, beating the next closest competitor by less than a second. Frollo took second place in the 100 Butterfly, with a time of 1:02.57.
Senior
Paige Pecora and senior
Alexis Ferraco finished in the top two spots in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle. Pecora came in with a time of 56.50 while Ferraco came almost simultaneously with a time of 56.51. Ferraco also took second place in the 200 Freestyle, with a time of 2:02.02.
The relay team of
Jess Smrekar,
Sarah Robbins, Ferraco and Frollo took second place in the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 1:53.25.
On the men's side, the team of
Zach Ligus,
Adam Tran,
Kyle Garase and
Allen Sant, took first place in the 200 Freestyle Relay, posting a time of 1:29.09.
Senior
Andy Moog finished in second place in the 100 Breaststroke, posting a time of 1:01.33. Moog also finished second in the 200 Breaststroke, with a time of 2:13.65.
Ligus posted another strong day, taking second place in the Men's 50 Freestyle, with a time of 22.19. Ligus also took second in the 100 Butterfly, with a time of 53.71, missing out on first place by a little more than a second. The senior rounded out his day with a third place finish in the 200 Freestyle, with a time of 1:46.83.
Freshman
Alex Bolen finished in second place in the Men's 1000 Freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 10:18.01. Sophomore
Xander Emili also finished in second place, coming in runner-up with a time of 49.53 in the Men's 100 Freestyle.
Adam Gordish, Garase, Moog and Emili took second place in the 200 Medley Relay, coming home with a time of 1:39.96.
Saint Vincent returns to action Saturday, Jan. 31, when they host Penn State Behrend for Senior Day. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
