Women's ResultsSEBASTIAN, Fla. (Jan. 5) – The Saint Vincent men's and women's swimming teams competed against Division I Canisius College (NY) in Sebastian, Fla.
On the women's side of things, senior
Jess Smrekar put together a strong day, finishing first in the 50 backstroke, with a time of 36.82. Smrekar added a second place finish in the 100 backstroke, with a time of 1:16.9.
Senior
Paige Pecora added a first place finish in the 50 Free (30.29), while sophomore
Johni Beeler took the top spot in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 48.7. Rounding on the Bearcats who took first place was freshman
Marla Turk, who continued her strong season with the top performance in the 100 backstroke (1.13.3).
Senior
Sarah Robbins finished second in the 50 fly, touching the wall in 33.12. Freshman
Casi Smith finished runner-up in the 100 fly, coming in at 1:17.4. Senior
Kristina Boburka and junior
Christina Webster helped SVC sweep the top three spots in the 50 backstroke, finishing second and third, respectively.
Moving to the men's side of the competition, senior
Zach Ligus led the Bearcats with two first place performances. Ligus took the top spot in both the 50 free (25.6) and the 100 free (56.25). Freshman
Matt Kenney put together the top time in the 50 breaststroke, touching the wall in 34.94. Freshman
Kyle Garase earned top honors in the 100 fly, finishing in 1:00.9.
Garase added a second place finish in the 50 free, coming in at 26.64. Sophomore
Adam Tran took home second place in the 50 fly (28.29) and third place in the 100 back (1:10.9). Senior
Andy Moog finished in third place in the 100 breaststroke to lead all Bearcat competitors in the event.
The Bearcats return to competition on when they travel to Bethany College on Saturday, Jan. 17. Meet time is slated for 1 p.m.
