The Grove City Wolverines defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 4-2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer action.
Both teams got off to a quick start, with Grove City's Sammie Wild tallying a goal just under three minutes into the game. Â The Bearcats fought back quickly, as
Emily Johns sent a free kick into the box just over 5 minutes later, where
Natalie Luppold was waiting to knock it into the net to tie the game.
The score remained 1-1 until very late in the first half, when a foul was called on Saint Vincent resulting in a penalty kick for Grove City's Jordyn White in the 42nd minute, that put the hosts in front 2-1.
The Grovers added a pair of goals in the 62nd and 67th minutes to go ahead 4-1, before Luppold sent a through ball to
Maggie Nelson, who beat the keeper for her 9th goal of the season to make it 4-2.
Corinne Burk made 11 saves and took the loss in the net for Saint Vincent. Â On the afternoon Grove City outshot the Bearcats by a 28-11 margin.
Grove City is now 8-5-2 overall, 3-1-1 in the PAC. Â The Bearcats fall to 6-8, 2-3 in the conference. Â Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday (October 21), hosting Waynesburg at 1PM.
