LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 21) - The Saint Vincent men's soccer team scored a season-high five goals in a 5-1 victory over Waynesburg University on Senior Day.
Senior
Christian Trueax got the Bearcats on the board first, scoring in the 13th minute off an assist from
Zachary Kocak and
Zachary D'Amico, giving SVC a 1-0 lead.
Kocak scored a goal of his own just minutes later, tallying a score off an assist from Trueax in the 14th minute, making it 2-0 SVC.
The game remained at 2-0 until the second half when Kocak notched another goal, this time off an assist from freshman
Lionel Whitcombe in the 52nd minute.
In the 64th minute, Kocak took a pass from freshman
Dan Guzik and buried it in the back of the net, giving Kocak the hat trick and SVC a 4-0 advantage.
After Waynesburg finally got on the board, SVC answered with another goal from Trueax, off an assist from
Kevin Proctor in the 75th minute of action.
The Bearcat offensive duo of Trueax and Proctor totaled two goals and two assists in their final appearance on the SVC turf. Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper
Jon White made seven saves for the victory in net.
SVC held a 19-18 advantage in shots, including a 9-8 edge on goal. SVC had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The win improved SVC to 1-4-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action and 2-13-2 overall. Waynesburg dropped to 1-4-1 and 1-13-1 in the league.
Saint Vincent travels to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, Oct. 24 for another league matchup. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
